Clergy Removals Fund Ordinance 2003

There have been significant changes to the entitlement of parishes to claim removal costs of clergy upon appointment to an office or position in a parish.  These changes are effective for all appointments beginning on or after 1 January 2013.

There are no changes to the Ordinance in relation to the reimbursement of removal costs upon the retirement or for the surviving spouse upon the death of a member of the clergy.

Please refer to the above Ordinance if you are considering submitting a claim of removal costs.

Removals

Parochial units customarily meet the reasonable costs of incoming members of the clergy and their families. Part reimbursement for removal costs may be available (refer Sydney Diocesan Secretariat). Assistance toward the costs of members of the clergy (or the widowed spouses of clergy) moving into retirement is also available.

Assistance for clergy, retired clergy, clergy widows and clergy children

The Archbishop controls limited funds to help members of the clergy who are not being paid according to the diocesan scale, retired members of the clergy and the spouses, children, widows and orphans of members of the clergy in needy circumstances. Make enquiries through the archdeacon or assistant bishop. Please refer to the claim form above.
